Instagram grid maker

Turn one image into a 3×3 profile grid. Each file keeps its row and column, and a posting number in front: 01 is the first upload, and on a 3×3 that tile is the bottom-right. Post from 01 upward so the picture assembles on your profile.

How to make the grid

  1. Open one finished image

Use a square source when you want square tiles. A 3×3 of a wide photo makes wide tiles, and Instagram will crop the thumbnails.

  2. Keep the 3×3, or drag a cut

The page opens at three rows and three columns. Drag a line if a face or a logo sits on a cut. Type a pixel if you need the line in an exact place.

  3. Post file 01 first

Download the zip. File 01 is the bottom-right tile and the first one to publish. The highest number is the top-left tile and the last one to publish.

Questions

Why is 01 the bottom-right tile?
A profile grid shows the newest post at the top-left. To rebuild the picture, the bottom-right tile has to go up first. The number in the filename is that upload order, next to the row and column.
What size should the source be?
A square of at least 3240 pixels on a side gives nine tiles of 1080 pixels. Smaller sources still split. They just produce smaller tiles.
Can I make a carousel instead of a profile grid?
Set one row and as many columns as you want slides. The posting numbers still run in reverse reading order. For a single swipe post, the visual order of the slides matters more than the profile-grid order.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. The grid is cut in this browser. There is no account and no watermark.
